I was very shy as a child. When I was 5, Santa said, “Whoever comes up to sing a song will get a present.” I immediately raised my hand! –to the absolute shock of my mom!
When I was 14, I first heard the Vienna Boys Choir and was totally mesmerized. That is what started me on my pursuit for classical singing. I was very mystified by the great singers. We have the same human body, but just how do they produce that powerful voice when they sing?
After 6 years of voice training, I finally understood that there is no mystery about it. Now, I like to share this knowledge in teaching and my gift of voice in performing.
We all have a dormant singing instrument in our body. Unlike other instruments, the voice has an inner mechanism that is invisible to the eye, and it takes a good teacher to know how to convey it to you. To understand and explain this instrument, it helps to know the physiology and phonetics associated with it besides musical training. A good teacher is able to “diagnose” individual problems instead of using “one-size-fits-all” teaching methods.
Besides studing Voice and Music, I have also studied Linguistics and I have a science background. This has helped me tremendously in understanding the voice and teaching it effectively.
The more effective your voice lessons, the less tuition you spend in the long run, the more enjoyable your lessons are, and the longer the rest of your life you will have to enjoy your beautiful voice.
I teach for the joy of sharing my knowledge and in seeing the glow in my students' eyes as they see results.
